Hi, I'm Matt.
I'm a design leader, designer, engineer, writer, entrepreneur, and musician.
For the last 10 years I've been focused on building excellent design teams at companies like Copilot Money, Stripe, The Wall Street Journal, and more.
Before that, I founded a product studio called Planetary, a sensing startup called CTY, and a music magazine called Eleven.

Established a high growth plan for the design team, including operating principles, hiring process, and career frameworks. Designed and built crucial pieces of Copilot Money's multi-year go-to-market strategy for a multi-platform, multi-user financial management app.
Led growth, onboarding, developer experience, mobile, dashboard, and design systems teams. Managed 14 designers through reorgs and layoffs. Supported growth in year over year revenue growth and profit margin of over 40%.
Built a design team of 6 across marketing, brand, product design, content design, and user research. Supported the growth of the company from 40 to 200 employees while increasing revenue in subscription products by 20x in 2 years.
Led the design of Bitly's web, mobile, and native apps. Led a redesign of the logged-out and marketing pages, resulting in a 20% increase in monthly activated users. Created a product design system and an updated branding language to enable the growth of the product's feature set and marketing footprint.
Outside of work, I'm also a founding member and editor of the W3C Design Tokens Community Group, and a contributor to the Primary Ventures Partners expert network.
